Professional Summary

I am Özlem Temena, and I wanted to breathe new life into the very familiar profession of 'fixer' for journalists. I ended my twelve-year career as a professional editor and founded Fixistanbul, an international consultancy company.

With my twelve years of journalism experience, I have developed a wide network of contacts and have written many exclusive stories on politics, refugee rights, human rights, LGBTI, trade union work and labor rights advocacy. Thanks to my experience in these fields and my wide network, I make a significant contribution to the journalists, researchers and lawyers I work with, and my expertise and passion will be an important contribution to any organization to help them access the right sources.

I founded Fixistanbul to provide services in areas such as mentoring for academics and researchers, connecting journalists with the right sources, national and international event organization, cultural tourism, media content production, international public relations-promotion activities.

We offer translation and guidance services in Western languages such as English, French and Spanish as well as Eastern languages such as Arabic and Farsi.

Our team includes experienced specialists in EU projects and international relations, as well as consultants with PhDs and academic degrees.

The work in Turkey also stems from my experiences in countries such as India, Greece, Germany, Egypt and Ecuador. I have collaborated with international media outlets such as RAI, The Telegraph, the Italian Bar Association, Paris-based fashion designers and participated in cultural projects with local governments in Turkey. Most recently, I wrote the books İkitelli and Cennet in the series “Benim Semtim Benim Mahallem Küçükçekmece” published by Küçükçekmece Municipality. Specializing in rights journalism, I have also worked as an international consultant for trade unions such as BİRTEK-SEN and Adalet-Sen.

I have closely followed international labor, workers' and social rights actions, including during my university years and professional life. In 2014, I worked as an observer at the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and documented my observations.

Between 2010 and 2011, I worked as a volunteer in organizations such as the Communist Party of Greece, the New Left Current (NAR) and the All Workers Militant Front (PAME) and prepared news reports based on these experiences.

I can list my professional

AUTOGRAPH SESSION - KÜÇÜKÇEKMECE

Authorship and Contribution to Küçükçekmece Municipality's 'City Inventory' Project

I am proud to have contributed as an author to the 'City Inventory' project initiated by Küçükçekmece Municipality, a significant cultural endeavor aimed at documenting and preserving the rich history, cultural heritage, and unique neighborhood stories of Küçükçekmece. As part of this project, I authored two volumes in the six-volume book series titled "My Neighborhood, My Neighbor," showcasing my commitment to capturing the essence of local communities and their vibrant histories. Coordinated by Güney Özkılınç, the Culture and Social Affairs Manager at Küçükçekmece Municipality, the project culminated in a press launch where the book series was introduced to the public. "My Neighborhood, My Neighbor" conveys the colorful stories, warm neighborhood relations, and the historical and cultural heritage of 21 neighborhoods in Küçükçekmece, and has been met with great enthusiasm by the community. This series aims to bridge the past and the future, ensuring the legacy of Küçükçekmece's neighborhoods is passed down to future generations. The project's successful launch and positive reception highlight the importance of preserving local history and fostering community spirit.
